Grovetown keep tennis crown

Grovetown Top Shelf comfortably defended their division one president's grade tennis crown, scoring a 4-0 win over Marlborough McRobies in Tuesday night's final at the Forrest Winery Marlborough Tennis Centre.
Grovetown completed an unbeaten season with the win to secure back-to-back titles.
Venice Robb and Raewyn Heta set the tone for Grovetown with a 9-5 win over Lorna Lindquist and Judy Shanahan in the women's doubles.
Scott Woolley and Graham Thomas added a 9-6 victory over John Patchett and Kent Register.
In the mixed doubles Woolley and Robb sealed the tie with a 9-4 victory over Patchett and Lindquist.
Thomas and Heta worked hard to secure the clean sweep, toppling Register and Shanahan 9-8, the match decided 7-5 in the tiebreak.
The division two final was a much tighter affair with Marlborough Hawks prevailing 30-25 on games countback over Marlborough Swifts.
Dene Cross and Jed Boekholt picked up a men's doubles win for Hawks, 9-3, but the sides went in to the mixed on level pegging after Pam Hamilton and Pat Compton recorded a 9-5 women's doubles victory for Swifts.
Boekholt and Mel Trolove pushed Hawks back in front, winning their match 9-4 and while Tiff and Dene Cross lost 7-9 to Compton and Graeme Drummond they secured enough games to ensure Hawks the title.
The Grovetown club celebrated a second title when Grovetown Grove Tavern took division three honours, 3-1 over Rapaura Pinot. Ann Walker and Jillian Ashfield had a 9-3 win in the women's doubles and Matt Robertson and Darrin Devanny won 9-7 in the men's to give Grovetown a 2-0 lead. Robertson and Walker wrapped up the title with a 9-3 mixed win while Rapaura grabbed their lone win, 9-7, courtesy of Kent and Jill Winstanley.
Picton won the division four title 3-1 over Renwick Black. Frances Pearson and Penny Edwards won 9-7 in the women's and Willie Abel and Lindsay Oram 9-1 in the men's. Edwards and Abel secured the title with a 9-0 mixed win. Lynne Morris and Peter Richardson bagged a 9-7 win for Renwick in the other mixed game.
