MBC athletes set new Tasman marks

Marlborough Boys' College athletes Cody Thomas and TC Campbell were in record-breaking form at the Tasman Secondary School Athletics, held at Athletic Park on Wednesday.

Thomas set a new Tasman schools record for the under-19 boys' 100m, clocking 10.9sec, the first time he has broken 11 seconds.

Campbell set a new mark in the under-14 boys' triple jump with 10.97m.

The records were among six set on the day.

Thomas enjoyed a standout day at under-19 level, also winning the 400m, long jump and high jump, where he cleared 1.93m to narrowly miss another record.

He also placed third in the javelin and anchored the winning MBC 4x100m relay team.

Campbell added a win in the under-14 boys' 100m and long jump and a third in the high jump, and anchored the MBC under-14 4x100m relay team, which also won gold.

Marlborough Girls' College's Anna Tempero bagged two titles, winning the under-16 girls' 100m and 200m.

Fellow MGC athlete Stacey Chandler won the under-16 girls' 400m and was third in the 800m. Grace Tocker won the under-15 girls' 800m and was runner-up in the 200m, while Elizah Hudson took out the shot put and was second in the javelin. Alex Parker won the under-14 girls' 300m, and was second in the 1500m and third in the 800m.

The MGC under-14 girls took out their 4x100m relay, while Emma Logan, Portia Barcello, Claudia Clark, Hannah Cook and Elle O'Fagan won titles.

Jacob Rounthwaite excelled for MBC, winning the under-15 boys' high jump and finishing runner-up in the 100m and third in the long jump. Kurt Schollum, Tom Knowles, Henry Shaw, Israel Hebberd, Tom Looms and Tama Gutsell also bagged titles.

Queen Charlotte College's Ben McCulloch won the under-16 boys' discus.
