The Tom Hutchison-skippered Whiting 29 Green Dream took advantage of a great start and a fresh southerly breeze to win division two in race six of the Waikawa Boating Club's Furneaux Lodge winter series on Sunday.

Early conditions looked fickle, but they picked up throughout the day and made for some good racing for the 20 boats off Waikawa.

Hutchison and regular crew John Sowman and Aaron Carter held their nerve to take finish line and handicap honours as both upwind and downwind legs became more challenging with the building wind.

Ricochet, skippered by Pip Maslen, and Aaron Blackmore's Bavaria had good days out, securing second and third respectively.

Meanwhile, Clive Ballet's Ross 930 Slingshot put in another fine showing to take division one honours and maintain its place at the top of the series standings. Bill Williams on Panic Knot picked up second, while the Peter Gray-skippered Nonstop took third, in improved performances for both boats.

The overall series standings now have Bryce Ecklein's Sex on Fire sitting in second behind Slingshot, with Dave Gillies on Prime Suspect third.

In division two, brothers Ian and Matt Michel on Endurance lead the way from Ricochet and Bavaria, while Green Dream now sits in fourth.
