The Marlborough golf community comes together tomorrow in the name of charity when the third annual Craigs Investment Partners Marlborough Hospice Charity Golf Classic tees off at Rarangi Golf Club.

The field of 176 golfers will compete in 43 teams of four, with the best three scores from each team on each hole counting. In addition to the teams event, the players will be competing for best individual men's and women's scores and individual prizes such as closest to the pin, longest and straightest drive and longest putt.

The Tapi Tigers team, consisting of Margaret Hastings, Maria McConway, Shirley Agnew and Margaret Roberts, are back to defend their title this year among a field that also includes a number of Marlborough representative golfers.

Tournament manager David Winstanley said the community had again been very generous, and he was hopeful the event would exceed the $5000 it raised last year.

Thirteen teams tee off at 8am, while the other 31 will start at 12.30pm.

A full draw was printed in Wendesday's golf notes of the Marlborough Express.
