Tennis players take on capital
Relevant offers
The first course of junior representative tennis for the season will be served up this weekend when nine Marlborough juniors join forces with their Nelson counterparts and travel across Cook Strait to tackle Welllington-Hutt Valley.
The teams will consist of four boys and four girls across three age groups, and Tasman will be out to square the ledger after Wellington came away with the honours in last year's fixture.
Marlborough players Peter Crampton, Lily O'Fagan and Sarah Maxwell return from last year's side and will be joined by fellow Marlborough juniors Kate Rawcliffe, Hamish Milne, Josh Watson, Andrew Forgesson and the brother-sister combination of Nic and Phoebe Murray.
Forgesson and O'Fagan are expected to be key figures for Tasman in the 14-and-under age group, O'Fagan competing in the higher age bracket even though she is still eligible for the 12-and-under group.
Marlborough's 14-and-under players will be looking to use this weekend's fixture to gain valuable match practise ahead of their all-important Malcolm Shield Challenge against Nelson next month.
