Softballers on form in South

Several Marlborough softballers featured prominently in the Top of the South team which contested the national under-17 title in Christchurch last week.
Paige Lovell, Samantha Andrell, Sharae Sinclair, Libby Smith-Kapralos and Taylah MacDonald all played their part in some good performances.
Andrell and Lovell scored the team's two runs in a 2-10 loss to Wellington, Sinclair doing likewise in a 2-18 loss against eventual winners Hawke's Bay.
Smith-Kapralos batted two from two and was the sole runner to score against Auckland while Lovell took some good catches at third base against Canterbury. In their most improved performance of the tournament, Andrell and MacDonald scored in a hard-fought 2-5 loss second time up against Hawke's Bay.
Marlborough team manager Denise Andrell was also selected as the tournament team manager.
