Region clean sweep
The Marlborough men's and women's pool teams completed a clean sweep of the silverware for the first time in four years when they took on Nelson in their annual representative clash at the Waimea Town and Country Club on Saturday.
On the women's side, Marlborough won three out of the four matches.
In the men's section, the games were shared two apiece.
However, Marlborough's wins were by bigger margins.
From the eight matches, Marlborough A prevailed 32-23 over Nelson A, while Marlborough B downed Nelson B 25-16.
Dawn Hart (A) and Anna Cook (B) were named players of the day for the Marlborough women's teams, while Greg Paul (A) and Andy Brice (B) took the honours for the men's teams.
Marlborough co-selector Bob Henderson said the women performed to a high standard, with both sides beating Nelson A.
He said a fresh approach of mixing experienced players with players new to the representative scene proved fruitful in the men's teams, with both putting in impressive efforts.
Meanwhile, Wayne Palatchie took out top honours in the Top of the South 8 Ball competition held at the same venue on Sunday.
Palatchie beat Lewis Green 2-1 in an all-Marlborough final.
