Get your motors running: The Marlborough Boys' College motocross team, from left, Adrian Tennant, George Holland and Jackson Simmons, are revved up for this weekend's event.

Motocross – it's definitely not a new sport, but it's new at Marlborough Boys' College.

Adrian Tennant, George Holland and Jackson Simmons are representing MBC at the Tasman Secondary Schools motocross championships at 88 Valley in Stoke on Sunday, and they've been preparing hard for the event.

Teams of three contest the event, each riding in their own classes, and the team with the highest number of points at the end wins the title.

Simmons is riding a 125cc 2-stroke Suzuki, Tennant a KTM 125cc machine and Holland a Honda 150cc machine with each class racing three rounds.

All three riders are members of the Marlborough Motorcycle Club and should perform well.

Although with heavy rain in the area throughout the week conditions on the purpose-built track are sure to be even more testing than usual.

Racing starts at 10.30am.
