Marlborough bounced back from a narrow loss on day one of the Seddon Shields primary schools rugby tournament at Westport to thrash West Coast 106-0 yesterday.
Fullback Sam Kenny led the 18-try blitz with four touchdowns in a dominant performance by the young Red Devils, No8 Josh Godsiff setting the tone with a rampaging solo try from the kickoff.
Coach David Nott was delighted with the team's performance on the back of Monday's narrow 7-10 loss to Golden Bay-Motueka, who had the bye yesterday.
Standouts for Marlborough included the player of the day, prop Flynn Struthers.
Nelson also had a big win, beating Buller 91-0. Marlborough and Nelson meet in today's crucial clash.
