With the grapes harvested for another season and vineyard maintenance under control it's time for workers at Marlborough's wineries to get into a bit of physical action with the annual Inter-Winery eights rowing challenge.
The event is set down for September 8 and organised training began two weeks ago on the Wairau River. Teams must have at least two males or two females in each crew. Teams also provide their own coxswain and the Blenheim Rowing Club will provide coaching and equipment.
Event organiser Geoff Beavis said five crews have entered so far, two or three down on the usual number.
Anyone wanting to enter a team should contact Geoff on 021 485521 or geoff.beavis@ indevin.com.
