Young Marlborough rider Monica Lewis and mount Kashmere Lad were standout performers at the Canterbury Dressage Championship show in Christchurch at the weekend.
Despite battling a bad cold, Lewis collected three wins and a second to be crowned level two pony champion and overall pony champion. The pair also took home the title for overall most points on a pony.
Several other Marlborough riders performed well at the event, with four picking up a reserve champion sash.
Janna Greene and Grandiosie were reserve champs in level one, while Anna Gale and Jive Thyme (level two), Sharon Inwood and Akkron (level three) and Jo Wadworth on World Ovation (level four) achieved the same feat. Riding SWE Limoncello, Helen Sangster won the most points Hanoverian award, with Gale and Hawthorn Annie claiming the award for the highest percentage ride of the competition.
Tracey Johnson, Sarah French, Sarah Wadworth and Rose Prendiville placed in most of their classes.
