Blakiston opens season with two scratch-event victories
Junior under-19 rider Nick Blakiston won two events on his first night of racing this season at Athletic Park.
The open-grade events on November 26 started with Blakiston taking out the 500m and 1000m scratch events from Gerard van Antwerpen and Graham Henderson, respectively. Van Antwerpen was consistent to win the 8000m scratch from Blakiston, and finish second to Ray Dunstan in the 1600m handicap event.
The junior under-17 grade A grade events were dominated by Dylan Vile and Ethan Batt, who took three first and second places, respectively. There was a similar result in the junior under-17 B grade, with Veli van Rensburg beating Shaun Woods in each event.
