The Winstanley Shield will be staying in Nelson for another year after their senior team proved too good for their counterparts from Marlborough and the West Coast in Greymouth last month.
The Nelson team of David Averill, Kenta Naka, Cara Glintmeyer and Robyn Sheves swept an understrength Marlborough side 8-0 in a weekend clash before comfortably retaining the Winstanley Shield with a 6-2 victory over the West Coast.
In the first Saturday morning fixture, the West Coast team overcame the Marlborough team of Hamish Morrow, Peter Stubbs, Sandy Stubbs and Elaine Fluit.
The shield fixture was the final one on the representative calendar for 2012.
Marlborough's next assignment on the competitive schedule is the Blair Cup 18-and-under fixture against Nelson in February.
