Youngsters Brodie Catterick and Peter Crampton finally toppled time-trial stalwart Ray Dunstan in Cuddon Cycling Marlborough's Summernite Series time trial No 3 at Fairhall on Wednesday.

Warm and windy conditions saw a great tussle between the top riders on the 16km New Renwick Rd/Godfreys Rd out and back course. Strong headwinds on the outward journey certainly ruled out any records but speeds of up to 65km were reached on the return journey.

It was Catterick who had the edge in recording a good 21min 27sec to take victory over Crampton (21min 33sec) and Dunstan (21min 34sec). The sealed handicap also went to Catterick by a mere 2sec over under-17 rider Dylan Vile.
