The Waitaria Bay Classic Triathlon is a popular event in Marlborough's Kenepuru Sound and next month's race looks like being bigger and better than ever.
The triathlon, the brainchild of former New Zealand running champion John Dixon and his wife, Dianne includes, a 2 kilometre kayak, 4km cycle, 4km run and 50m swim from Waitaria Bay.
People can enter as individuals or in two-person teams. For those aged over 60, there is a four-person team option.
There are spot prizes and the event is only part of the entertainment. Afterwards, there will be a dance and social evening at Waitaria Bay with live music, food and refreshments available.
John Dixon said the event was a great opportunity, not only for those living in the Kenepuru Sounds area, but also for Blenheim people to enjoy the Marlborough Sounds environment. There were several accommodation places available for competitors.
The event begins at 10am on January 26. For information contact any member of the Waitaria Bay fitness group on 03 573 4420 or email email@example.com
