The Tasman women's golf team finished the round robin portion of the Toro Interprovincial tournament without a win after they lost their day three matches against Southland and Manawatu-Wanganui at the St Clair club in Dunedin yesterday.

Losses to Northland and North Harbour on Tuesday, followed by defeats against Bay of Plenty and Wellington on Wednesday, left Tasman needing at least one win yesterday to avoid finishing seventh and last in division two.

The disappointing news continued yesterday morning, though, as they suffered their first clean-sweep loss of the tournament, going down 5-0 to Southland.

No 3 Emily Greenhough, of Motueka, was Tasman's best player, taking her match against Olivia Frost all the way to the 18th before losing two down.

In the afternoon, Tasman were beaten 4 - by Manawatu-Wanganui. Only a half to Nelson's Lesley Baxter, the Tasman No 2, prevented a second straight clean sweep.

No 1 Emily Stenhouse, of the Marlborough club, battled hard before eventually going down 3 and 2 to Emma Clayton.

Tasman had the bye in today's seventh and final round, but are guaranteed to finish last in division two. Playoffs for final placings are scheduled for tomorrow.
