Sylvia Clark and Travelling Wilbury, riding in the novice 15km class shone in last Sunday's Marlborough Trail and Endurance event at Wairau Valley.
They finished in two hours with a low 88 faults to give them victory.
Clark completed the ride with Emma Lancaster and Dulux and Heather Deacon riding Speights Gold and they finished second and third consecutively, making it a clean sweep for the trio.
Riders baked in the sun at the monthly competitive trail ride with most realising it was cooler to ride faster and make the most of what little breeze there was.
Committee member Pam Harris had marked an excellent track of rolling farm hills along with some flats through neighbouring vineyards over three properties on both sides of the state highway.
Nicki Tennant and Ruby clocked up yet more distance, the pair riding in the training 15km class, and despite being 10 minutes under time, were rewarded with a good score of 107 and first place. Runner-up was junior rider Rachel Earle riding Gypsy and third was Melisa Rae and Jazz.
Three intermediate combinations completed their 25km class, all finishing well under time to incur time faults, their placings therefore decided on their horse's heart-rate scores.
Linda Harmon's MF Shaheen had the lowest rate and the duo finished on a total of 110, with Pam Harris and Tampa De Oro further back on 123 and Sherryl Wells with Dell Miska third.
Missy Green was the sole Open rider with Xavier Cheerokee. They were a few minutes over time, completing the 33km class in just over three hours to record a score of 101.
