Marlborough player Josh Clarkson played his second significant innings in two days for Central Districts at the under-17 quad tournament in Christchurch yesterday.
Following his unbeaten 103 against Otago on Monday, the Wairau batting all-rounder hit a crucial 73 to dig CD out of a major hole on the first day of their second two-day match of the tournament, against Wellington.
Batting first at Burnside Park, CD were 21 for 3 when Clarkson walked to the middle, and when they slumped to 30 for 5 he was joined by Marlborough wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Stretch. Playing patiently, the duo combined for a 70-run sixth-wicket partnership before Stretch was trapped lbw for 25 off 63 balls.
