Former Marlborough hockey player/coach Chris Leslie was back in his old home town in Blenheim over the weekend imparting his coaching expertise on several players and coaches from here.
The Black Sticks women's assistant coach drove up from Christchurch on Saturday to be guest speaker at the Arotea Kiwi Club's prize-giving at the Royal Hotel in Blenheim yesterday.
While here, he offered his services to coach emerging playing and coaching talent on Saturday and Sunday and his expertise was well received from those taking part.
Marlborough Hockey development officer Tony Haswell said it was a big coup to get Leslie and he appreciated that he volunteered his services.
Leslie spoke and instructed on the changing structures of hockey, Haswell said, and new techniques and innovations in the game at the higher levels. He hopes to have the highly respected coach back once the hockey season gets under way in March/April.
