Hard-fought match ends in draw
Swagkers and Hendersons battled out a 4-4 draw in an entertaining mixed grade one Marlborough touch senior competition match at Lansdowne Park on Wednesday night.
The game started strongly, with both teams making yards on attack and remaining sound on defence.
Emily Wallace was first to dot down for Swagkers, fooling the defence thanks to a nice late cut with Junior Filipo.
Jake Creswell scored the first try for Hendersons, while Taylor Struthers dotted down on the wing and the duo of Adam and Gareth Smith also impressed.
On Thursday night, a hat-trick of tries to Ben Smith saw Tow and Salvage beat Marlborough Boys' College 3-1 in a men's grade one encounter. Ollie Crawford was the try-scorer for MBC, with Curtis Pedersen-Line having a good game on attack and defence.
In the women's grade, Tasman Crop managed a 6-1 win over Queen Charlotte College in a steady-paced match. Laura-Kate Morgan and Emma Moore were the standout players for Tasman Crop, combining well on the 5m line and both scoring tries. Tamsin Woolf scored QCC's try and was her side's outstanding performer. Tasman Crop remain unbeaten this season in the women's competition.
