Master rider Nick Batt has been the form rider over the last two weeks in clearly winning Cuddon Cycling Marlborough's Cycle World Stage Race No 4 and Cycle World Time Trial No 5.

The Cycle World stage race was run over two stages starting and finishing at Wither Hills Winery. The first 12km stage saw windy conditions split the field as they headed up New Renwick Rd and Brancott Rd. Batt broke from the lead group in the latter stages and put 48 seconds between him and his nearest rival in the hard finish up the hilly Bookers Rd.

Gerard van Antwerpen and Dylan Vile finished second and third respectively. The fast 14km final stage followed a route back into Godfreys Rd and they turned for home.

Six riders went clear with Van Antwerpen taking the win in the sprint over Batt and Vile. The overall victory went to Batt from Van Antwerpen, Vile, Paul Newman and Lee Griggs respectively. Batt also took the sealed handicap by 3 seconds to Newman with Georgia Catterick another 22 seconds back in third place.

Merrick Thompson took the overall win on time and handicap in the B grade event from Grant Clifford.

Batt again dominated in the final Cycle World time trial of the summer series by beating favourite Ray Dunstan by 12 seconds on the 16km New Renwick Rd/Godfreys Rd course, recording 21min 32sec. Gerard van Antwerpen (22min 34sec) took third place.

The sealed handicap went to Mel Jones, with a good solid ride, 19sec up on Batt with another 20sec back to Susan van der Pol and Craig Anderson at third equal.
