Three get maximum

Grove Tavern Wairau batsman Marty Vercoe, Biddy Kates Celtic batsman Chris Gibb and Criterion Hotel Wairau Valley seam bowler Sam Boyce all picked up maximum points in the Marlborough Express Cricketer of the Year competition from the latest round of senior club cricket matches at the weekend.

Vercoe hit 82 not out to led Wairau to a six-wicket win over Wakatu in a Kelvin Scoble Trophy combined one-day competition in Nelson, while Gibb top-scored with 84 in Celtic's 117-run victory over Guthrie Bowron Renwick in a round two Marlborough one-day competition match. Valley were hammered by 215 runs in a KST fixture in Motueka and opening bowler Boyce was easily the visiting side's best performer, claiming 4-35 from 9.5 overs.
