Marlborough Softball is running a Little League Qualifying tournament at A&P Park on Sunday.
It will feature 13 teams in the U11 and U13 grades from Nelson, Christchurch and Marlborough.
Teams will attempt to qualify for the Grand Prix tournament on April 6-7, held annually in Christchurch.
Marlborough have some great talent on show, including the defending champions, Central United, who face a tough test, playing four games in a row, then the final if they make it through on Sunday.
In the U13 grade, RM United and The Mets are also competing, with both strong teams full of exciting prospects.
In the U11 grade, Marlborough teams Springlands Titans, Wairau and Central Spartans are very young sides, with many players still eligible for the U9 grade, but they will put up a great fight.
"It is great to see such enthusiastic and talented kids out there enjoying the game," Marlborough Softball development officer Anthea Stringer said.
"It's an awesome day of softball and I hope some locals get down there to support the kids."
Games start at 9am, and play continues all day.
