The Marlborough Girls' College year 10 team finished fourth at the South Island schools junior netball tournament, with two of their number being chosen for the Talented Players squad.
Held at Christchurch's Hagley Park courts from July 15-17, the champs hosted year 9 and 10 teams from throughout the south.
The MGC year 10 combination forged a powerful path to the division one semifinals, beating Wakatipu College 37-10, Timaru Girls High School 35-16 and Rangiora 35-14 in section play.
In the play-offs they downed Rangi Ruru 52-8 and Ashburton College 43-18 before tipping over Roncalli College 32-22 in the quarterfinals.
However, their run was ended by Christchurch Girls' High School, who went on to win the tournament, in the semifinals.
In the play-off for third and fourth MGC lost 26-31 to Southland Girls' High School.
At the tournament's conclusion MGC players Kelsie Fitzpatrick and Jordan Peipi were included in a talented players squad.
The MGC year 9 side also competed in Christchurch and had a good run, beating Avonside 25-7, Cashmere 19-16 and Waitaki Girls High School 30-11 in section play.
They went on to contest the division two quarterfinals where they were pipped 23-24 by Rangiora.
In the play-offs MGC downed Roncalli 25-18, then Burnside 32-29 to wind up fifth.
