Whanganui trainer Kevin Myers enjoyed a remarkable day at the Marlborough Racing Club's winter meeting at Waterlea, bagging five winners from eight races.
In race three, he saddled up winner Billy Elliot, ridden by David Walker, in the next race Opie Bosson guided Shanghi Slow home, and followed up with victory on Willie Duggan in the fifth.
Another Myers runner Arandom, ridden by Walker, won the sixth while Bosson brought Ciskay back to scale first in race eight.
The feature race, the Yealands Estate Wines Winter Cup trial was won by Conscious Mistake, ridden by Matt Cameron, by 1 lengths to Negotiate.
In the battle for the jockey's premiership, Bosson stole a march on his rival, Cameron, with three wins to Cameron's one. Leading trainers Lisa Latta and Michael Pitman managed a win each in their tussle to top the season's stats.
Friday's on-course turnover was $26,093 while $361,103 was spent off course.
