Rayner's return adds spice
The return of Billy Rayner from university for the summer added spice to the senior athletics meeting on Tuesday last week.
He made his first appearance since Mahar Cup in February. Rayner put in solid performances in the shot put and long jump. His throw of 9.67 metres in the shot put surpassed his best result from last season by an impressive 13 centimetres.
India Ross covered the 100 metres in 14.9 seconds to record her fastest time this season and Dale Smit won the 1500 metres backing-up from his double gold-medal winning effort at Dunedin last week.
Senior athletics are held every Tuesday night at Athletic Park, starting at 5.30pm. The distance running event commences at 6pm and anyone aged 15 and over is welcome to compete.
