Andrew Watson was the standout performer at Marlborough senior athletics on Tuesday, registering personal bests in the javelin and high jump. He also recorded a season's best in the 200 metres.

India Ross and Natasha Legg provided the highlight on the track with a close finish in the 200 metres.

Dale Smit and David Hansen continued their close tussle in the senior men's competition and shared honours with David dominating the field events and Dale the track events. The club also welcomed newcomers Tom and Emily Burgess.

Meanwhile, former Marlborough athlete of the year Cody Thomas, who is in his second year of scholarship with the University of Alaska, will return to Marlborough for two weeks over Christmas.

Cody's next track meet in the United States is set down for January 18 at University of Washington.

He will train at Athletic Park over the Christmas period.
