After six straight losses, Tasman finished the Toro Women's Interprovincial golf tournament on a positive note when they defeated Aorangi/South Canterbury 3-2 to claim 13th place at the Muriwai club in West Auckland on Saturday.

Tasman No 1 Emily Stenhouse, of Marlborough, had her first and only win of the week when she overcame Nicole Nathan 3/2, while No 2 Michele Reardon beat Ginny Bolderston 1-up. Marlborough's other representative in the Tasman side, No 4 Sue Murray, halved her match with Jenny Kellahan and No 5 Kathryn Maloney did the same against Pauline Bell to seal victory. Tasman No 3 Lesley Baxter was beaten 3/1 by Sharon Bradford.

Meanwhile, Auckland collected their third straight Toro title by beating Bay of Plenty 5-0 in the final. The champions defeated Hawke's Bay 4.5-0.5 in one semifinal, while Bay of Plenty downed North Harbour in the other.
