Billy Connolly will have to get in quick if he wants to participate in the Saint Clair Vineyard Half Marathon the day after his Blenheim show.
Nearly two and a half thousand tickets for the May 10 race have sold, leaving only 400 spots available.
Organiser Anna Polson said accommodation in Marlborough was already looking tight, with not only their race and Connolly's High Horse Tour, but also a ploughing competition.
"Eighty to 90 per cent of those [half marathon participants] will be from out of town," she said.
Tickets to the post-race party, Makana Confections Finishing Toast, had already sold out, and entries for the race were selling in record time. This time last year they had sold about 700 tickets, compared with 2400 now.
Ms Polson had suggested the High Horse Tour to participants for pre-race entertainment, and had already received emails from people trying to make group bookings for the show.
She had talked about getting Connolly to the race, but had not actually done anything about it yet.
