A driver's road rage reaction to being thwarted by another driver in her bid for a central Wellington parking spot has been captured on camera.
Staff at Voon on Willis St were distracted by a "bang" outside their window about 11am on Friday, assistant Gemma Walker said.
They looked outdoors to see a blue four-wheel-drive speeding off away from a parked station wagon after an apparent prang.
But when the staff reviewed the shop's security camera footage they wondered if the hit-and-run might not have been an accident.
The footage shows the driver of the blue vehicle apparently waiting to perform a U-turn into a parking space on the opposite side of the road. As she waits another driver slides into the park. The 4WD driver rammed the parking spot thief and "hooned" off, Walker said.
"The station wagon driver just got out of the car and walked up the side of the road with his hands up on his head."
"Why wouldn't she stop? If it was an accident and she didn't mean to do it, surely she would have stopped."
Shop owner Douglas Voon said he had reported the incident to Wellington police.
