McLaren Automotive's chief designer Frank Stephenson provides a fascinating insight in a video interview into the secrets of various McLaren supercars.
Stephenson, interviewed at the recent Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance show, reveals the secret behind the 12C Spider's yellow paint job - it has to do with Ayrton Senna and why the best automotive designer in the world is mother nature.
Among's Stephenson's latest co-design work is the controversial McLaren X-1 but he has also been responsible for vehicles such as the Ferrari F430, the new Mini Cooper, FFX Ferrari Superenzo, Maserati's MC2 and Grand Sport and the BMW X5.
The interview is nearly 19 minutes long, but provides in rare insight into the thinking of designs at the forefront of automotive design.
