To celebrate the revamped Bentley Continental we thought we'd list our five other best luxury coupes, with four seats and preferably a convertible option.

ASTON MARTIN DBS

Starting at $197,000 for the Vantage V8, Aston offers a choice of 11 V8 and V12 coupes and convertibles, culminating in the $445,000 DBS Volante. No room in the rear, but great looks and performance.

BMW 6-SERIES

With a selection of blisteringly powerful twin-power V8s, the BMW nears Bentley's space. There are few cars quicker around a circuit than the M6. The Gran Coupe four-door is an option. $199,200 to $277,100.

MASERATI GRAN TURISMO

Maserati offers six rag and tin-top coupes between $275,000 and $350,000. Beautiful cars with great presence, lots of the right kind of noise and performance. Cramped rear, but gorgeous both inside and out.

FERRARI FF

You'll have to go elsewhere for a four- seat drop-top, but the FF does everything else well in coupe-estate style, and with 4x4 like the Bentley, it's a surprisingly flexible package. At $635,000 it's expensive too.

MERCEDES-BENZ CL

With V8s and V12s from $285,000 to $395,000, the CL looks sober, but has huge performance, especially in C63 form. There's no four-seat convertible CL, but you can get an E-class V8 Cabriolet for $188,900.
