New Zealander Scott Dixon has finished a disappointing 16th at the Iowa Corn Indy 250 at the Iowa Speedway this morning.
The race was won by Canada's James Hinchcliffe ahead of defending champion Ryan Hunter-Reay while Tony Kanaan finished third - his fourth straight top-three finish at the event.
Dixon remains winless through 10 events and the 2003 and 2008 IndyCar champion has dropped from fifth to seventh in the standings after a largely unhappy weekend.
The 32-year-old was fifth-fastest in practice, but qualified 15th on the grid and was unable to make any inroads this morning.
Hinchcliffe had led just 33 total laps on ovals in the last two seasons, but was in front for 226 of the 250 at Iowa.
