Holy Bat-truck Batman! Meet 'The Crimefighter'
You can now add Bat-truck to the long list Batman's vehicles that includes such creations as the batcycle, batmobile, batgyro, batplane, batcopter, batwing, batboat and batskiboat.
The Bat-truck, dubbed "The Crimefighter" is not likely to appear in any Batman movies having been built as a tribute to George Barris, the designer and builder of the original Batmobile.
Back in 1965, Barris became a legend among custom car designers when he built the first Batmobile using parts he found at a hardware store and the body of a Ford Futura concept car.
That car was auctioned for a cool US$4.2 million (NZ$5.3m) in January this year and in light of that, Barris's grandson, Jared, wanted to create a tribute to his grandfather's Batmobile.
What he designed is a Batmobile, or rather a Bat Truck, for the 21st century and it has just been unveiled at Comic-Con in San Diego.
The Bat-truck is a 2012 Ford F-150 customised by Galpin Auto Sports with a tuxedo black paint job and Ferrari red accents that create a look much like that of the original Batmobile.
The bed of the Crimefighter has even been adorned with fins. It's powered by a Ford 5.0-litre V8.
The cool thing about the Crimefighter? Galpin Auto Sports in Southern California is taking orders on the custom truck, so you can feel like Batman too.
