Paddon out in Finland with mechanical issue
Geraldine's Hayden Paddon is out of Rally Finland due to a mechanical issue over night.
The Super 2000 World Rally Championship leader's engine dropped on to two cylinders two kilometres from end of special stage five.
''Despite trying to limp to service, it seems that it is terminal,'' Paddon said.
''Sorry everyone but our Rally Finland is over.''
The 25-year-old said the team is not allowed to fix or replace the engine as per the Super Rally rules.
''Very gutting as the car was feeling so good and there was a lot more speed to come.
''At least the times were good but now really determined for the next round.''
Paddon went into the event with a 19 point lead over Swedish driver Per-Gunnar Andersson and Irishman Craig Breen, but is unlikely to hang on.
