Chris Evans gets car sick filming Top Gear segment

Just when you thought things couldn't get much worse for the new Top Gear crew, photos have emerged of Chris Evans getting car sick during filming.

The new host was reportedly riding shotgun in an Audi R8 V10 with co-host Sabine Schmitz around a racetrack in Monterey, California, according to The Daily Mirror.

But it seems the Mazda Raceway was a bit too much for Evans, who was seen retching on the side of the track after the German racing driver pulled over to let him out of the car.

The photos show a queasy Evans hunching over and holding a bottle of water as he tries to recover - as well as some amused-looking crew in the background.

It didn't take long for social media users to poke fun at Evans over his weak stomach.

Evans was named the new lead host after Jeremy Clarkson's widely publicised exit last year after punching a Top Gear producer. Regular hosts James May and Richard Hammond also left the top-rated programme.

Rumours of staff walkouts and on-set car crashes have plagued the reboot, which is said to feature an all-new look and format.

The new Top Gear will air in the UK in May; the New Zealand screening date on Prime is yet to be confirmed.
