No room for driver in this windowless truck video

A Swedish company says it's ready to produce a driverless truck called "T-pod".

Prototype testing will occur this year, followed by actual sales of the blocky, windowless truck.

The Einride T-pod is about 7-metres long, can carry 15 standard pallets, and weighs in at 20 tons fully loaded, according to Einride's its website, www.einride.eu.

Its 200-kWh battery gives it a claimed 200-kilometre range.

With no place for a driver to sit, the truck is autonomous on the highway. Then a remote driving system with a human in front of three widescreen monitors takes over in urban areas.

By 2020, the company plans to have 200 T-Pods operating on a route between Sweden's cities of Gothenburg and Helsingborg.
