Action hero rivals Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme have put their groins on the line to answer one simple question: Who can do the most epic split?

Since Van Damme starred in an ad for Volvo Trucks in November, the so-called "Epic Split" has gone viral, with more than 60 million views on YouTube.

It was the most-watched automotive commercial on YouTube of all time.

The stunt involved Van Damme performing a split between two reversing trucks, a feat which really happened and was done in one take, The Wall Street Journal reported

Now 73-year-old Norris has taken up the challenge, performing his own "Epic Christmas Split" between two jumbo jets.

He is joined by a team of skydivers balancing delicately on his head, forming a human Christmas tree. As the planes soar above the clouds, Norris wishes viewers a Merry Christmas.

While Norris was helped out by some CGI wizardry, his version is quickly catching up to rival Van Damme's in popularity.

Other celebrities to have attempted the gymnastic triumph include Channing Tatum, between two food carts, and notorious Toronto mayor Rob Ford, with the help of Photoshop.
