A crashed caravan has caused the recall of all Lockon brand towbars for Ford Territory vehicles.

The recall was triggered after a caravan detached from the towbar of the SUV, causing minor damage.

All Ford Territory drivers with Lockon towbars are advised to stop towing immediately, as there is the possibility the item could break.

Customers should contact Towbar Express or the company that fitted the product to arrange a free replacement.

It is estimated just under 200 vehicles have the particular towbar. Towbar Express can be contacted on 0508 666 000.

The recall does not include factory-fitted Ford-approved towbars on Territorys.
