The team at Hennessey Motorsports are at it again, this time unleashing a 1226 horsepower Cadillac beast that they think will challenge the might of Bugatti.
Motoring website Jalopnik.com reports that Hennessey owner, John Hennessey of Texas, has responded to Bugatti CEO Wolfgang Durheimer's statement that the company's new Bugatti Galibier sedan will be "faster than anything on the market", including tuner cars.
Durheimer said the Galibier would have over 1000 horsepower and his statement has been taken as a challenge by Hennessey.
''If Herr Dürheimer wants to invite us to demonstrate the top speed of our 1226 bhp four-seater, then we would be more than happy to accommodate him,'' Hennessey told Jalopnik.
The VR1200 Cadillac packs a twin turbo kit on the modified seven litre V8 that runs in the Venom GT which sets up the coupe to run a 10.2sec quartermile and 0-100kmh in 2.9sec. Top speed is listed at 390kmh.
Hennessey said they plan to build just 12 of these monsters, but he is also keen offer the upgrade to the CTS-V sedans and wagons.
