A racing stripe option on the new Ferrari 458 Speciale costs more than what many Kiwis would spend on a car.

The first stunning Speciale in New Zealand was unveiled at Auckland's CRC Speedshow this morning with Ferrari sales consultant Nick Lyne saying there are not many of this "absolutely incredible" machines available worldwide.

"The prices start from NZ$549,000 plus options.

"If you like the stripe that will cost an extra $18,200 New Zealand dollars. It is painted into the car."

Lyne described the Speciale as a "raw, aggressive road legal track ready race car."

He said the car is fully stripped out, carries the same brakes as the La Ferrari and is 90kg lighter.

It will go 0-100 kmh in 3secs flat, which is 0.4 sec faster than the 458 Italia.
