An Aston Martin collector has commissioned a one-off shooting brake (station wagon) version of the Rapide through Italian design and coachbuilding firm Bertone.

The Bertone Jet 2+2 concept will be officially unveiled at the Geneva motor show next week as part of celebrations to mark Aston Martin's centenary and 60 years of work with Bertone.

Aston Martin has okayed the Bertone project which follows on from a Vanquish shooting brake created in 2004.

The 2+2 shooting brake is the same size as the Rapide and will use Aston's 470 hp 5.9-litre V12 from the current model and not the more powerful version going in the new Rapide S.

In turning the Rapide from four-door sedan to four-door wagon, Bertone says the C-pillars are bent forwards and connected to the tall, muscular wheel arches to create a perception of movement even when the car is stationary.

There are four individual seats inside with the two in the rear able to fold flat and be covered by a sliding cover to provide extra luggage space.

The interior is finished with special wood, aluminium and two-tone leather trims.
