Peugeot have breathed life again into a daredevil group of daffy drivers as a way to advertise the 208 hatchback in Brazil.

Characters from the outrageous Wacky Races cartoon series - which first screened in 1968 - come to life in the ad which began screening last month.

The ad starts with a motorist parked at a red traffic light when the daredevil racers pull up all around. There are cameo appearances from The Slag Brothers driving the Boulder Mobile, the Gruesome Twosome in the Creepy Coupe, Red Max and his Crimson Haybailer, Sergeant Blast and Private Meekly in the Army Surplus Special, The Ant Hill Mob in the Bullet Proof Bomb, Peter Perfect in the Turbo Terrific, Penelope Pitstop in the Compact Pussycat and Dick Dastardly and Muttley in the Mean Machine.

Autoblog reports the ad was headed by Young & Rubicam Brasil, directed by Antoine Bardou-Jacquet for Partizan, and was edited by Mr Smedley.
