A biker has survived a spectacular 12-metre cliff plunge after narrowly avoiding a head-on collision with car in the UK.

The rider filmed the event via his helmet cam while riding the A537 in the north of England.

The video clip shows him out riding on the winding piece of road with several other bikers before he rounds a corner too fast and crosses to the wrong side of the road and directly into the path of an oncoming car.

He makes a split second decision to head further right, misses the car, flips over a fence and plunges down the steep slope.

His camera is ripped off his helmet but keeps filming and the rider eventually retrieves it and manages to make his way back up to the road.
