Quake rattles the North Island

A magnitude 4.4 quake has rattled the lower North Island this afternoon.

According to Geonet, the quake struck at 3.12pm, at a depth of 45km and centred 25km northwest of Paraparaumu.

It was earlier categorised as a magnitude 4.5. In less than 10 minutes, more than 1000 people reported feeling the quake, from Taranaki down to Wellington, and in the South Island in Marlborough.
