Police are looking for a 1-year-old girl and her mother, who have not been seen for two days.
Victoria Harrison, 23, and her child Autim have links to the Counties Manukau and Dargaville areas.
Police said they had concerns for the wellbeing of both mother and child.
Acting Detective Inspector Albie Alexander, head of the Counties Manukau child protection team, is appealing to the woman and her friends and family to contact police to confirm her whereabouts and, more importantly, the Autim's safety.
"There are a lot of family or friends who are concerned enough to be contacting police and all we wish to do is to confirm the wellbeing of Victoria and her child," he said.
"We want to ensure that the appropriate support is in place for both Victoria and Autim and that they are okay. Our focus is very much on their safety and well being."
