Two police staff from Auckland have been stood down on full pay after an incident involving alleged inappropriate sexual behaviour, the city's district commander says.

The pair allegedly filmed themselves in a sex act at the Auckland Central police station, and sent the footage to a junior colleague, inviting her to join them, the Weekend Herald today reported.

Auckland City District Commander Superintendent Mike Clement confirmed an investigation into alleged inappropriate behaviour involving two staff members commenced in early March.

Both were immediately stood down from duty, and subsequently suspended from duty on full pay, he said.

One of those under investigation, a non-sworn employee, had since resigned from the organisation, the Herald reported.

"As this is a continuing employment related investigation, no further detail can be provided at this time," Clement said.

The investigation into the behaviour of the male uniformed officer is ongoing.  The junior colleague who allegedly received the footage has not left the police, and part of the internal inquiry is focused on whether the pair asked her to keep quiet, the Weekend Herald reported.
