Charges over fatal crash yet to be laid
Dunedin police are yet to lay charges, if any, after a fatal crash in the city weekend before last.
The driver of an unwarranted, unregistered, and illegally modified Honda Integra, Cameron Presland, 20, lost control of his vehicle just after 3am on Sunday May 18 on the southern motorway out of the city.
The vehicle crashed into a tree and then a pole, killing two of Presland's passengers, Shannon Kiriau, 22, and his sister Danielle Kiriau, 17 - also Presland's girlfriend.
Two other passengers, Courtney Donald, 17, and Caitlin Adams, 16, were injured in the crash, Donald seriously.
Presland was also injured and spent some days in hospital.
Police today said their investigation into the incident were ongoing.
"The facts established as part of the enquiry will dictate what, if any, charges are laid," a police spokesman said in response to Stuff questions.
