Close to a week after Aaron Roigard went missing, police are still in the dark over what has happened to him.

Inquiry head Detective Senior Sergeant Blair Burnett said police and search and rescue officers, including a specialist team from Wellington, searched two farms today but did not locate Roigard. The 27-year-old was last seen on Waiteika Rd, near Opunake, on Monday at about 1pm.

Burnett said police were grateful for the assistance they had received from the public regarding sightings of an older style dark green/blue Holden Commodore, which was seen in the vicinity of the area Roigard disappeared from.

In addition to following up the vehicle sightings, a team of detectives are continuing to speak with family and associates who knew Roigard.

''We are doing all we possibly can to bring Aaron home to his family and loved ones,'' Burnett said.

He said further searches are planned in the coming days, including a canvas of the coastline, in an attempt to locate the father of two.

Burnett said the inquiry team was still speaking to a number of people connected with the 27-year-old and each piece of information was being assessed as it became available. "Our inquiries are ongoing and we are planning further area canvasses over the weekend."

Senior Sergeant Matt Prendergast, who is co-ordinating the search and rescue effort, said the information received to date had been reviewed and the search areas adapted accordingly.

Roigard was last seen on Monday walking on foot along Waiteika Rd about 1pm. At the time of his disappearance he was wearing black clothing, including a beanie, a hooded jacket, trousers and work boots. He is described as being 1.76 metres tall, of medium build with brown hair.

Anyone with information about the case can contact Detective Sergeant Chris Allemann on 06 213 9536 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
