Two lucky Lotto punters in Hastings and West Auckland have had some excitement added to their All Black test tonight.
The $25 million Powerball jackpot was split between two people and if that was not enough, they each grabbed $250,000 for taking out Lotto first division too.
Hastings Pak n Save sold one of the tickets while Kumeu Four Square sold the other.
In February one Aucklander claimed a $26.2 million Powerball prize and last night’s jackpot ranked seventh on the all-time list, according to Lotto spokeswoman Amanda Boock.
The biggest ever was in September when another Aucklander took home a cool $33 million when the game reached its must-be-won jackpot.
One Step Ahead in Ponsonby sold the ticket which broke the record and the winner did not even pick all six numbers and the Powerball, as is normally the case.
The prize pool dropped to second division in which there was only one who got five numbers, the bonus ball and Powerball.
This weekend’s winners will not share quite as much as Te Kauwhata’s Trevor Cooper who claimed $26.5 million playing Powerball.
But $12.75 million should be enough to buy a range of high-powered vehicles and race them in the US if they wanted to, just like Trev.
